Ukrainian Clubs' 2024/25 European Campaign Results

According to Главком: Ukraine has posted its highest points total in the UEFA coefficient table in ten years, closing the 2024/25 European season with 8.312 points. Despite this milestone, the country's last remaining side in the semifinals, Shakhtar Donetsk, was eliminated after a loss to Crystal Palace. As a result, Ukraine stays in 23rd place in the overall rankings.

This performance marks the strongest showing by Ukrainian clubs since the 2015/16 season, when they accumulated 9.800 points. For context, the 2017/18 campaign yielded 8 points. Here is how the points were distributed among Ukrainian teams this season:

  • Shakhtar Donetsk - 6.0625
  • Dynamo Kyiv - 1.75
  • Polissya Zhytomyr - 0.5
  • Oleksandriya - 0.00

Notably, Shakhtar did not add any further points to the UEFA coefficient table following their exit.

Rankings and Future Outlook

The top ten positions in the coefficient standings remained unchanged after the second-leg semifinal matches. England leads the table with 117.964 points. Nations ranked between 23rd and 29th continue to be allocated four club spots in European competitions.

Ukraine's potential representation in the 2026/27 and 2027/28 European seasons has been determined. For 2026/27, the Ukrainian Premier League champion will enter the UEFA Champions League league phase, while in 2027/28, the champion will start in the first qualifying round of the same tournament.

The UEFA Conference League final is scheduled for May 27 at Leipzig's Red Bull Arena, featuring Crystal Palace against Rayo Vallecano. Ukrainian clubs are thus maintaining their presence on the international stage, showing gradual improvement in their performances.

This European campaign reflects positive trends in Ukrainian football development, which could help attract investment and boost the clubs' international profile.

The rise in UEFA coefficients opens new doors for Ukrainian teams in upcoming seasons, including Champions League participation, potentially marking a key step forward in their growth.

As Ukrainian clubs continue to demonstrate their capabilities on the European stage, it's worth noting the ongoing excitement in other sports, such as basketball. The recently revealed NBA playoff matchups showcase the competitive spirit and high stakes that fans can look forward to, paralleling the thrilling developments in Ukrainian football.
