Nationwide, Ukrainian schools will devote the September 1, 2026 academic opening to a lesson called “The Language of Dignity.”

National Lesson “The Language of Dignity: Seeing the Person Behind Words”

According to Рубрика — Суспільство: On September 1, 2026, schools across Ukraine will take part in a nationwide lesson titled “The Language of Dignity: Seeing the Person Behind Words.” This session will center on barrier-free communication, the impact of supportive words, and respect for human dignity. It is being organized under the National Barrier-Free Strategy, an initiative led by Ukraine’s first lady Olena Zelenska, in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine and UNICEF Ukraine. The initiative is part of a broader drive to make everyday communication and public life more inclusive in Ukraine.

The project has backing from Tetiana Lomakina, Presidential Commissioner for Barrier-Free Access, and Daria Herasymchuk, Presidential Commissioner for Children’s Rights and Child Rehabilitation. The lesson’s format is built around a toolkit with exercises, questions, and scenarios designed to help students grasp why barrier-free communication matters.

Adapting the Materials and the Importance of Accessibility

Teachers will be free to adapt the materials, change the order of activities, and choose the formats that best fit their classrooms. According to the Ministry of Education and Science, schools shape the values and interaction patterns that students carry into adult life.
