Free Walking and Bus Tours in Kyiv

According to Главком: From June 26 to June 28, the Kyiv City State Administration's Tourism and Promotion Department, in partnership with the Kyiv Center for Tourism Development, will host 11 complimentary tours across the capital. These excursions, which include both bus trips and themed walks, focus on the evolution of Ukraine's constitutional history. While participation is free, advance registration is mandatory due to limited availability. This initiative coincides with Ukraine's Constitution Day, a national holiday that marks the adoption of the country's fundamental law in 1996.

Tour Schedule Highlights

The program features two bus tours:

  • 'Kyiv: Through Ages and Legends' - scheduled for June 27 at 11:00 AM;
  • 'Chronicle and Modern Kyiv' - taking place the same day at 1:00 PM.

Participants can also join several themed walking tours, including:

  • 'From the Charter of Liberties to the Fundamental Law' - offered on June 26 at 12:00 PM, June 27 at 1:00 PM, and June 28 at 3:00 PM;
  • 'The Constitution: From Creation to Today' - set for June 26 at 2:00 PM, June 27 at 2:00 PM, and June 28 at 11:30 AM;
  • 'The Millennium Path of the Constitution' - running on June 26 at 3:00 PM, June 27 at 3:30 PM, and June 28 at 11:00 AM.

Two landmarks visited during the bus tours are UNESCO World Heritage Sites, highlighting their global cultural importance. For those wishing to join the Constitution Day festivities, Ukrainian Railways (Ukrzaliznytsia) is organizing rides on historic steam locomotives during a special 'Summer Steam Weekend' on June 27–28, 2026.

Additionally, to mark the 30th anniversary of Ukraine's Constitution, a complete translation of the document into Ukrainian Sign Language has been produced. Nine interpreters collaborated on this project, ensuring that the nation's foundational law is accessible to the deaf and hard-of-hearing community.

This initiative aims to raise public awareness about the history of Ukrainian constitutionalism and the importance of the Constitution in modern society.

The free tours and the push for accessible information for people with hearing impairments reflect a commitment to inclusivity and education, which are key elements in fostering civic consciousness.

As the city gears up for the Constitution Day celebrations, it's worth noting that free walking and bus tours will also be offered over the weekend, providing an excellent opportunity to explore Kyiv's rich historical landscape while learning about its legal heritage. This initiative complements the upcoming festivities and invites residents and visitors alike to engage with the city's culture and history.
