Coast Guard-Led Rescue Effort

Search operations commenced early Monday, deploying U.S. Coast Guard aircraft and helicopters to comb the area. Rescuers spotted the boy clinging to the capsized vessel and dropped a survival raft stocked with supplies. His location was then communicated to the crew of the fishing boat Northwest Explorer, who reached the boy and hoisted him aboard using a rescue basket.
