According to Главком: As of 10:00 PM on May 22, 2023, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has reported a significant escalation in frontline hostilities. A total of 166 combat engagements occurred within the past 24 hours, highlighting extreme tension in threatened regions. The enemy launched 52 airstrikes, dropped 170 guided aerial bombs, deployed 5,984 kamikaze drones, and carried out 2,279 shelling attacks on civilian settlements and Ukrainian military positions.
Frontline Activity
The most intense fighting took place on the Pokrovsk axis, where 37 Russian occupiers were eliminated and 11 were wounded. In this sector, the enemy conducted 29 assaults, resulting in the following damage:
- 4 units of automotive equipment destroyed;
- 6 units of specialized equipment destroyed;
- 3 units of automotive equipment damaged;
- 3 artillery pieces damaged.
During the battles in this direction, Ukrainian forces neutralized or suppressed 232 unmanned aerial vehicles of various types.
On the North-Slobozhansk and Kursk axes, 4 combat clashes were recorded. The enemy carried out 5 airstrikes, used 10 guided bombs, and conducted 58 shelling attacks. In the South-Slobozhansk sector, Russian forces launched 5 assaults near Ternove and Novovasylivka. On the Kupiansk axis, 3 firefights were reported near Hlushkivka and Novoplatonivka.
On the Lyman axis, Ukrainian troops repelled 9 enemy attempts to advance near Torske, Ozerne, Drobysheve, Dibrova, Yampil, and Lyman. In the Sloviansk direction, 2 enemy advances were stopped near Rai-Oleksandrivka, while on the Kramatorsk axis, 1 attack was thwarted near Nykyforivka. On the Kostiantynivka front, Ukrainian forces halted 7 assaults near Kostiantynivka, Pleshchiivka, Illinivka, Ivanopillia, and Stepanivka.
Additionally, on the Oleksandrivka axis, the enemy attacked twice near Verbove and Zaporizke. On the Huliaipole direction, 23 occupier assaults occurred, and on the Prydniprovsk front, 3 enemy offensive actions were stopped near Hola Prystan and Zaplava.
This marks the 1,549th day of the full-scale war in Ukraine.
