Digital Accessibility Training Empowers 169 Civil Servants from Kyiv, Ternopil, and Odesa Regions for Inclusive Online Services

Equipping Public Officials with Digital Accessibility Skills

According to Мінцифра: As part of the Diia Support Project, a collaborative effort between Ukraine’s Ministry of Digital Transformation and the Digital Accessibility Competence Center, civil servants underwent specialized training focused on digital accessibility. This initiative aims to make online government services more user-friendly for individuals with visual, hearing, and cognitive impairments. The program was delivered with the backing of the Swedish Government and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Ukraine.

Recently, 169 professionals from Kyiv, Ternopil, and Odesa regions completed the training sessions. The courses emphasized creating government websites with accurate image descriptions, accessible video content, and clear, understandable text. These improvements are designed to eliminate digital barriers, ensuring equal access to public services for all citizens. The Diia Support Project remains committed to advancing digital accessibility across Ukraine.

The Critical Role of Digital Accessibility

This initiative represents a significant stride toward fostering inclusivity within Ukraine’s digital landscape. Enhancing the awareness of public servants about the needs of people with disabilities will help build more accessible online platforms, ultimately improving the quality of life for these communities.

International experience demonstrates that such programs can greatly enhance access to vital services and information for vulnerable populations.

In addition to training civil servants, the Ministry of Digital Transformation is also working to enhance regional digital services. This initiative aims to simplify access to government resources, further complementing efforts to create a more inclusive digital environment for all citizens in Ukraine.
