The ceremonial opening of the James Mace hall took place on November 21 at the Diplomatic Academy of Ukraine, shortly after the Holodomor Victims Remembrance Day. This hall is dedicated to the outstanding American and Ukrainian historian, political scientist, and researcher of the Holodomor.

At the opening ceremony, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Maryana Betsa was present. She emphasized that the opening of this hall is an important symbolic step in memory of James Mace's work and his contribution to educating the truth about the Holodomor as genocide.

'The Holodomor-genocide is not an abstract tragedy. The perpetrators have names: Stalin, Molotov, and many others. Conveying the truth about the tragedy of the Holodomor is an important mission of Ukrainian diplomacy,' emphasized Maryana Betsa.

It was noted that modern Russia is committing genocide against the Ukrainian people in the occupied territories, so it is crucial to hold war criminals accountable. The Director of the Diplomatic Academy, Igor Ostash, emphasized the importance of internationalizing the memory of the Holodomor thanks to James Mace.

After the Russian aggression against Ukraine, the world has become more actively recognizing the Holodomor as genocide. This reflects the influence of war on global societal consciousness.
