25% of employees do not have a unified action plan during air alerts: OLX survey
A quarter of employed users surveyed by OLX reported that their employers do not have unified action plans during air alerts. This issue remains part of protecting businesses from wartime risks. OLX Work reports the survey results.
The survey was conducted among employees, so the figure of 25% reflects their responses about the situation at work. Security conditions are important when choosing an employer for 61% of respondents: 33% considered them somewhat important, while another 28% deemed them very important.
Work during alerts: access to shelters and rules
26% of respondents reported a lack of shelter near their workplace. Another 12% do not know where it is located or have nearby premises unsuitable for occupancy. Shelters directly within the workplace are available to 24%, while 18% have access within a neighboring building or within five minutes walking distance.
The procedure during alerts also differs:
-
25% do not have unified rules;
-
20% stop work and have to move to shelters;
-
19% receive recommendations to take shelter but decide on their own;
-
18% continue working at their workplaces;
-
10% work from shelters when possible;
-
8% act based on the situation and management's decision.
According to the head of OLX Work, Maria Abdullina, the absence of a policy does not always indicate negligence regarding safety. Management may lack understanding of how to create an algorithm taking into account the specifics of activities. Special approaches have already been outlined for certain sectors, including rules of operation for hospitals during alerts.
Time in shelters and business requirements until December 4
51% of respondents count time spent in shelters as regular working hours. For 35%, this issue was not discussed, while for 13%, the decision depends on circumstances or managers. Another 1% reported the need to make up for this time after the alert.
The Ministry of Economy reminds: for enterprises without shelters, the transitional period regarding work under the yellow threat level lasts until December 4, 2026. By this deadline, businesses must prepare solutions to protect staff and visitors.
Separate construction is not always required. In cases provided for by legislation, a safe space can be arranged within a building. The appropriate option depends on the premises and established requirements.
OLX Work advises to determine the procedure for moving to shelters in advance, inform the team, and agree on time recording. It is also important for employees to understand how to receive alerts about air alerts and know the location of the nearest suitable shelter.
