National Forum 'People Everywhere'

According to Рубрика — Суспільство: On December 3rd, International Day of Persons with Disabilities, the public union 'League of the Strong' will host the National Forum focused on the rights of people with disabilities, under the banner 'People Everywhere'. This event aims to explore ways to ensure full participation of individuals with disabilities across all areas of society, identify existing obstacles, and develop practical solutions to enhance their social inclusion. Running alongside the forum is the 'People Everywhere' awareness campaign, which concludes on December 3rd and invites active involvement from various organizations and initiatives.

Participation Invitation

The forum welcomes representatives from civil society, government bodies, the business community, and other sectors. Discussions will center on integrating accessibility principles within organizational and business practices, sharing employment experiences of people with disabilities, and organizing inclusive events. A key focus will be exchanging practical knowledge and fostering collaboration among organizations working in diverse fields.

Major barriers hindering the engagement of people with disabilities in societal life include:

  • inaccessible facilities;
  • lack of appropriate communication formats;
  • workplaces not adapted to their needs;
  • insufficient involvement of people with disabilities in decision-making processes.

Viewing accessibility solely as a social issue limits systemic progress. It is vital to recognize that decisions affecting the daily lives of people with disabilities are made across various sectors, including business, education, culture, local governance, and public administration.

People with disabilities actively contribute to many areas such as employment, education, entrepreneurship, community initiatives, culture, sports, and volunteering.

“This year, we want to focus not only on what needs to change but also on how these changes can take place across different sectors. The theme 'People Everywhere' reflects our commitment to the full participation of people with disabilities in all societal processes and decision-making.”

Both the 'People Everywhere' forum and its associated campaign aim to stimulate dialogue on the importance of considering the needs of people with disabilities at every stage of planning and implementation. Registration is open, providing an opportunity for anyone interested to join discussions on critical issues concerning the rights and opportunities of people with disabilities in Ukraine.

The National Forum 'People Everywhere' represents a significant milestone toward improving conditions for people with disabilities in Ukraine. By addressing pressing challenges and identifying solutions, the event lays groundwork for future policy and practice reforms related to social integration. The involvement of multiple societal sectors underscores the growing recognition that accessibility requires shared commitment and active dialogue.
