According to ХВИЛЯ: Ukraine is set to experience a severe weather split on February 4th, with intense cold in the east and icy conditions in the west. According to the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center, nighttime temperatures in the northeast and east will plummet to -22 to -27 degrees Celsius (-8 to -17 Fahrenheit), with daytime highs only reaching -10 to -15 degrees Celsius (14 to 5 Fahrenheit). In the Zhytomyr, Kyiv, and Cherkasy regions, nighttime lows will be -16 to -21 degrees Celsius (3 to -6 Fahrenheit). For the capital, Kyiv, forecasters predict -16 to -18 degrees Celsius (3 to 0 Fahrenheit) at night and -8 to -10 degrees Celsius (18 to 14 Fahrenheit) during the day.

Icing and Hazardous Weather Conditions

Western Ukraine faces a different threat, with freezing rain and icy roads forecast for the Lviv, Ternopil, Ivano-Frankivsk, and Chernivtsi regions. A yellow-level weather warning (level I of danger) has been issued for these areas. Light snow is also expected in the western, Vinnytsia, and Zhytomyr regions, while the Zakarpattia and Precarpathian areas may see a mix of snow and rain. Daytime temperatures in Zakarpattia could reach up to +6 degrees Celsius (43 Fahrenheit). This stark contrast highlights the country's diverse climate zones.

Given the forecast, citizens are urged to exercise extreme caution, particularly on the slippery roads of western Ukraine. The deep freeze in the east may also strain heating and power infrastructure for residents. The weather service emphasizes the need to follow safety measures to prevent accidents and disruptions to transportation.
