The government will increase childbirth benefits to 50 thousand: what will change
In 2026, the Ukrainian government is launching the largest reform of social support for families in the last decade. The main changes will involve increasing childbirth benefits to 50 thousand hryvnias and introducing new monthly programs. In particular, other forms of support will be provided, such as care assistance, support for working parents, and 'packages' for children of different ages.
These steps are being taken in response to a significant decline in birth rates and rising costs of raising children. The new family support system is planned as a crucial measure not only to increase the amount of assistance but also to restructure the entire logic of cooperation between the state and families in the country.
The government promises that the new benefits and programs will not be limited to just material assistance, but will also cover a broader range of services aimed at supporting family well-being. However, the question of whether these measures can impact the demographic situation in Ukraine remains open.
