67th prisoner swap: 84 Ukrainians returned from Russian captivity
Today, August 14, the 67th prisoner swap between Ukraine and the Russian Federation took place. Among those released is a colonel, a border guard from the Mariupol garrison, who has been fighting since 2014. This was reported by 'Glavkom' citing Interior Minister Igor Klymenko.
Klymenko noted that the fighter was injured but continued to defend Ukraine. 'Defender of Mariupol. The enemy held him in Olenivka for a long time. The border guard withstood all tests. And returned with honor,' he added.
Thank you to everyone who brings these moments of return closer: the President of Ukraine, the head of the President's Office, the negotiation group, and colleagues from the Coordination Headquarters for the treatment of military personnel. We are fighting for everyone. Everyone should return home,' emphasized the Minister of Internal Affairs. As part of the exchange, 84 citizens of Ukraine returned from Russian captivity, including military and civilians. This was announced by the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky. The Coordination Headquarters for the treatment of military personnel noted that a feature of today's exchange was that it was possible to free civilians and military personnel of Ukrainians who were detained in temporarily occupied territories even before the large-scale invasion and unlawfully sentenced to long prison terms - from 10 to 18 years.
