Вісімдесятирічний марапонець щодня долає нові дистанції: як чоловік з Миколаєва взяв висоту 76 км у свої 76 років.

Stanislav Barta: An Inspiration for Active Living

According to Главком: In the city of Mykolaiv, 80-year-old Stanislav Barta is a daily sight, running through the central streets regardless of the weather. His remarkable endurance was proven when, at the age of 76, he ran a continuous 76-kilometer distance in 12 hours, from 6:00 PM until 6:00 AM. Stanislav often runs shirtless, a testament to his dedication even in freezing temperatures, snow, rain, or wind. Stories like his are increasingly common in Ukraine, where a growing culture of amateur athletics defies age stereotypes.

His daily routes take him through the city center, the Solyani and Namyv neighborhoods, and toward the Korabelny district. He frequently runs to Victory Park, where he says he finds joy in movement and fresh air. A single run can cover anywhere from 3 to 20 kilometers. Stanislav also participates in local city races, underscoring his commitment to an active lifestyle.

“If you go out for a run just once, it feels cold, but gradually, step by step, you get used to it. I’ve been running for a long time now, every day, every winter.”

He shares that his athletic pursuits often draw curious reactions from passersby: “It’s a funny situation when people and children see me and look at their mother: ‘Mom, look, look! He’s not cold.’ Well, that means it will stay in their memory that you can run in the cold, too.”

Petro Sydorenko: A Model of Vitality in Later Years

Alongside Stanislav, there is 81-year-old Petro Sydorenko from the village of Novoselivka, who also leads a highly active life. Petro practices daily cold-water hardening, which involves washing with ice-cold water, performing physical exercises, and dancing barefoot in the snow. Both men demonstrate that maintaining physical activity and a healthy lifestyle is possible well into one's later years.

The stories of Stanislav Barta and Petro Sydorenko provide a powerful, positive example for many, highlighting the importance of physical activity and healthy living at any age. Their dedication to sport can serve as an inspiration for others who wish to remain active and healthy throughout their lives. Such examples can help shift societal perceptions about aging and activity, encouraging more people to embrace exercise and a healthy way of life.
