Today, Ukraine has freed 84 citizens from Russian captivity. The State Border Guard Service showed the first footage of Ukrainians returning home, reports 'GlaAdvocate'.

One of the freed women, with tears in her eyes, said that she had not seen her children for six years. According to the State Border Guard Service, among those freed is also a border guard from the Mariupol garrison, who was held in Olenivka for a long time.

Prisoner exchange between Ukraine and Russia

We remind you that on August 14, as part of the exchange, Ukraine returned 84 citizens from Russian captivity, among whom were military and civilians. This was announced by the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky.

The Coordinating Staff for Issues Related to Prisoners of War noted that the peculiarity of today's exchange is that it was possible to free both civilian and military Ukrainians who had been detained in temporarily occupied territories even before the full-scale invasion and were illegally sentenced to long prison terms - from 10 to 18 years.

Among those freed today is also a colonel, a border guard from the Mariupol garrison, who had fought since 2014. The Minister of Internal Affairs, Ihor Klymenko, noted that the fighter was wounded but continued to defend Ukraine.

During the prisoner exchange between Ukraine and Russia, Ukraine returned home 84 citizens who had been held in Russian captivity. This is an important event that reflects the efforts of both countries in freeing their citizens and continuing the process of peaceful resolution of the conflict.
