According to ХВИЛЯ: The Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center warns of a sharp drop in temperatures, plunging as low as -18 degrees Celsius, accompanied by dangerous ice on roads. This severe weather is expected to cause significant transport disruptions across the country. Such winter conditions are not uncommon, but the combination of extreme cold and ice creates particularly hazardous travel situations.

Nighttime temperatures will fall to between -13 and -18 degrees, while daytime readings will range from -7 to -12 degrees. In Kyiv and the surrounding region, expect lows of -14 to -16 degrees at night and highs of -8 to -10 degrees during the day. A Level 1 (yellow) weather hazard has been declared for the Kyiv region.

Regional Weather Conditions

Light snow is forecast for western, southern, and eastern oblasts. In the Carpathian foothills and southern regions, nighttime temperatures will drop to -9 to -14 degrees, with daytime highs of -3 to -8 degrees. In Zakarpattia, temperatures will hover around zero at night, rising to 1-6 degrees Celsius during the day.

While winter temperatures are typical for this season, the forecasted cold snap brings dangerous road conditions that threaten the safety of drivers and pedestrians.
