The news was confirmed by his son, musician and composer Kyle Eastwood, during an interview with French television channel France 3. At the time of his retirement, Eastwood was 96 years old. His final directorial project is the film 'Juror #2', set for release in 2024. His last on-screen acting role was in the 2021 movie 'Cry Macho'.

Eastwood entered the film industry in the mid-1950s and rose to stardom in the 1960s through Sergio Leone's Westerns, including:
