First Look at the New Acer Nitro V 16S Laptop

According to НВ — Техно: After a two-year absence, Acer is bringing back its Nitro V 16 series with the launch of the Nitro V 16S. This refreshed model features a 16-inch display, weighs 2.1 kg, and boasts a chassis under 2 cm thick. The 'S' in its name stands for Slim, signaling a focus on delivering strong performance within a more portable and compact frame.

Key Specifications and Performance

Under the hood, the laptop runs on an Intel Core 9 270H processor from the Raptor Lake-H Refresh family. This CPU packs 14 cores-6 for performance and 8 for efficiency-handling up to 20 threads with a maximum clock speed of 5.8 GHz and a TDP of 45W. The tested configuration, model ANV16S-71-91-QB, comes with 32 GB of DDR5 RAM and dual 1 TB SSDs, totaling 2 TB of storage. The system supports up to 64 GB of RAM and a maximum of 8 TB of storage.

Graphics are handled by a mobile GeForce RTX 5070 based on NVIDIA's Blackwell architecture. It includes 8 GB of GDDR7 memory and supports DLSS 4 with Multi Frame Generation. The maximum TGP for this GPU version is 85 W, compared to 95 W in the thicker Nitro V 16 variant. In games like Shadow of the Tomb Raider and Metro Exodus Enhanced Edition, the laptop delivers solid frame rates: 60–65 FPS at 1600p and around 110 FPS at 1200p.

The 16-inch IPS display offers a 2560x1600 (WQXGA) resolution with a 180 Hz refresh rate and a 16:10 aspect ratio. It features an anti-glare coating, peak brightness exceeding 430 nits, and a contrast ratio of roughly 1250:1. The metal chassis gives the device a sleek, understated look built for mobility. Its keyboard includes four-zone RGB backlighting, dedicated WASD keys, and a NitroSense button.

Cooling relies on a dual-fan system with four air intakes to manage heat effectively. During gaming sessions, the GPU temperature rarely climbs above 79–80°C, while the CPU can hit 95–100°C-though no throttling was observed.

Connectivity options include:

  • HDMI 2.1
  • USB-A 3.2 Gen 1
  • Two USB-A 3.2 Gen 2 ports
  • microSD card slot
  • Combo audio jack
  • Thunderbolt 4

Wireless connectivity is handled by Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3, while wired networking relies on Gigabit Killer Ethernet. Battery life is rated at roughly 5–6 hours, making it practical for on-the-go use.

The Acer Nitro V 16S blends powerful specs, a stylish design, and portability, positioning it as an appealing choice for gamers and professionals seeking a high-performance yet lightweight laptop.

This launch signals a revival of the Nitro V 16 line, likely reflecting growing demand for powerful but light laptops. With features like DLSS 4 support and a high-quality display, the Nitro V 16S is poised to compete in both the gaming and professional device markets. As technology continues to evolve, Acer aims to meet the needs of users looking for balanced solutions for work and play.

As gaming laptops continue to evolve, other manufacturers are also making strides in innovation. For instance, ASUS has recently introduced a dual-screen laptop that boasts an impressive battery life of up to 32 hours, showcasing the competitive advancements in portable gaming technology. This highlights the growing trend of prioritizing both performance and efficiency in laptop design.
