How Kit Kellogg Introduced Trump to Usyk

U.S. Special Representative Kit Kellogg shared how he organized the meeting between Ukrainian boxer Oleksandr Usyk and Donald Trump at the White House. According to him, the scheduled meeting stretched out, and Trump and Usyk talked for about half an hour about boxing and the lives of Ukrainians during the war. Kellogg mentioned this during an interview on the RAMINA YouTube channel.

Why Kellogg Decided to Introduce Trump to Usyk

Kellogg explained that he wanted to present Ukrainians to the U.S. president not just through politics and war, but to show a specific person who lives in Ukraine and is known worldwide. He chose Usyk because of his sports achievements, also taking into account Trump's interest in sports.

«Usyk – the undefeated world champion in the heavyweight division. It was important to bring Usyk to meet the president, who loves sports a lot», – Kellogg said.

According to him, the introduction quickly turned into a lengthy conversation. Kellogg decided not to interfere and let Trump and Usyk have the opportunity to talk face-to-face.

«When I brought him in, they probably talked for a good 30 minutes about boxing. I just stepped aside and let them talk», – he noted.

Kellogg added that the meeting lasted significantly longer than initially planned, and Trump enjoyed communicating with the Ukrainian champion.

Trump Asked Usyk About His Family's Life in Kyiv

In Kellogg's opinion, it was particularly significant to show Trump how the war affects the lives of specific Ukrainian families. The U.S. president knew that Usyk and his relatives live in Kyiv.

During the conversation, Trump notably asked the boxer about his daughter and how she has to go down to the subway at night due to Russian attacks.

«He showed Ukrainians as living people. The president felt this. He knows that Usyk lives here in Kyiv, and his family lives here in Kyiv», – Kellogg explained.

Usyk's communication with Trump did not end there. The next evening, Kellogg invited the Ukrainian to an event with fights on the grounds of the White House. According to him, the opportunity to meet in person and talk was beneficial for both.

In the same interview, Kellogg stated that most Americans continue to support Ukraine. According to his estimate, about 68–70% of U.S. citizens support Ukraine, while only about 2% support Russia's actions.

Earlier, Oleksandr Usyk confirmed his intention to hold another fight and to finish his professional career afterward.
