How pensions are calculated in Ukraine: what determines the amount of payments

Mechanism for calculating pensions by age

According to ХВИЛЯ: The Main Department of the Pension Fund of Ukraine in the Zaporizhzhia region reported on the mechanism for calculating pensions by age, which is regulated by the Law 'On Mandatory State Pension Insurance'. The calculation of the pension depends on the accumulated insurance tenure and the amount of official salary.

Calculation of pensions

To determine the amount of the pension, an individual coefficient of tenure is calculated, based on the number of months worked. In addition, the earnings coefficient is calculated by dividing the actual salary by the average salary in Ukraine.

The final calculation of the pension is carried out according to the formula:

• average salary in the country for the three years before the request
• multiplied by the individual earnings coefficient
• and the tenure coefficient.

This calculation allows determining the specific amount of payments for each pensioner in Ukraine.

The introduction of such a pension calculation mechanism aims to ensure fairness in the distribution of pension payments, which is especially important in the context of economic challenges. Considering the changes in average salaries and the duration of employment tenure, this calculation can become an important tool for citizens planning their financial security for retirement.
