The Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine has banned Ukrainian athletes from competing with Russians and Belarusians

According to glavcom.ua: Fresh news from our Ministry of Youth and Sports! Now Ukrainian athletes are prohibited from competing in international competitions with Russians and Belarusians if they start under their national symbols. It is clear to us that a significant situation is developing in our country, and the Ministry of Youth and Sports has decided to take such a radical step.

According to Minister Matviy Bidny, a special commission has been created to decide whether our athletes are allowed to participate in certain competitions. The commission includes representatives of the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine, the Sports Committee, and the National Paralympic Committee.

Participation of Russian athletes in a propaganda event

'I cannot self-exclude myself from the international sports agenda. There are exceptions, but I need the commission's decision'

Interestingly, some international federations have already allowed Russians and Belarusians to compete in competitions under their symbols. For example, Russian skater Aleksandra Syutina, recognized as a neutral athlete by the International Skating Union, participated in an event dedicated to the election of Putin. Moreover, Russian skier Veronika Stepanova posted a photo on Instagram featuring Syutina at the propaganda event with Putin and Russian military personnel participating in the war in eastern Ukraine.

Ukrainian athletes now have to appeal to a special commission to find out whether they can participate in competitions with Russians and Belarusians. The situation in the sports arena is becoming increasingly interesting and tense!
