What changes to expect in the public transport of Rivne in 2026

In Rivne, they plan significant changes to the public transport system in 2026. An electronic ticket will be introduced for privileged categories on the trolleybus route Rivne–Horodok, which resumed operation on January 6. According to the acting mayor Viktor Shakiryanz, the Rivne–Horodok route was launched primarily for the technical verification of the contact network, and passenger accounting will begin later. An electronic ticket is planned for privileged passengers, presumably in the format of a 'Rivnian card'.

The mechanism assumes that the municipal enterprise will record the number of trips for each privileged passenger, after which the corresponding community will compensate the actual costs to the carrier.

Rivne's public transport in 2026: trolleybuses and routes

Electronic tickets will gradually be implemented on other routes in the city in 2026, including with private carriers. According to the city authorities, this will make services more transparent and allow real passenger flow monitoring.

Rivne also plans to:

• purchase new trolleybuses considering the accessibility strategy;
• update the rolling stock with low-floor transport;
• reformat routes to relieve the center and better connect neighborhoods with the highest demand for transportation.

The city emphasizes that private carriers must also ensure at least 70% low-floor transport.
