On May 2, 2026, Susan Brown marked her 108th birthday in Dover, Delaware, surrounded by 130 guests—including the state’s governor. Born in 1918 in Houston, Delaware, she earned widespread admiration over her lifetime as an educator.

Brown taught for more than three decades and earned a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Delaware State University in 1945. She is now the university’s oldest living alumna. Even at 108, she stays active: she attends workouts three times a week and has performed the same morning exercise routine every day for the past 20 years.

'When I wake up in the morning, I do the same set of exercises I’ve been doing for 20 years.' Susan Brown

Beyond staying fit, Brown still drives—her license has been renewed through 2033. 'I’m aging gracefully. They renewed my driver’s license until 2033,' she noted.

Her personal life includes two marriages: her first husband, James Young, died in 1988, and her second husband, Dr. Clifton Brown, passed away in 2001. 'That was enough. I’m not going to take care of another man,' Susan said about her outlook after losing both partners.
