12-Year-Old Vasyl Maievskyi Sets New Record on Ukraine's Got Talent 2026 by Lifting 32kg Kettlebell 21 Times

12-річний Василь Маєвський вразив всіх, піднявши гирю вагою 32 кг 21 раз на шоу талантів в Україні.

Young Athletes Breaking Boundaries

At just 12 years old, Vasyl Maievskyi from Zakarpattia made headlines on the 2026 edition of Ukraine's Got Talent by lifting a 32-kilogram kettlebell 21 times with one hand—setting a new record on the show. This impressive feat adds to Vasyl’s growing list of Ukrainian and world strength records, achievements he has been accumulating since early childhood. Born in the village of Klyachanovo in Zakarpattia, Vasyl’s journey into sports began at a remarkably young age. Weighing 4.6 kg at birth, he was already carrying a six-kilogram kettlebell around the house by the time he was one year old.

With strong family support, especially from his father who also serves as his coach, Vasyl’s athletic development has been steady and extraordinary. By six, he had completed 100 lifts with a six-kilogram kettlebell. At eight years old, he claimed his first Ukrainian record by bench pressing a 33-kilogram barbell 15 times. When he was nine, Vasyl set a world record by throwing a 16-kilogram kettlebell 20 times within 44 seconds. At ten, he once again raised the bar by lifting a 24-kilogram kettlebell 15 times. It’s also notable that Vasyl’s older brother is a Ukrainian arm wrestling champion, while Vasyl himself trains in combat sambo and enjoys playing football.

Highlights from Ukraine's Got Talent

Reflecting on his record-breaking performance, Vasyl shared:

“The most important thing is that I show everyone that Ukraine is the strongest!”
His statement underscores his desire to inspire others. Alongside Vasyl, 7-year-old Filip Nahornyi from Dnipropetrovsk Oblast also made waves on the show by setting five national records within a single month. Filip’s remarkable accomplishments include:

  • 1,000 consecutive repetitions of abdominal exercises using a gym wheel;
  • 250 continuous pull-ups with added weight on his legs;
  • Holding a plank on his elbows for 100 minutes;
  • 1,000 nonstop torso lifts on an abdominal machine;
  • Climbing 10 meters up a rope using only his arms, without leg assistance.

The extraordinary performances of these young athletes received enthusiastic praise from both the audience and the show's judges. Jury member Artem Pyvovarov remarked:

“We are truly impressed. This is an absolute success. We take pride in witnessing new generations who embody our resilience and continue the legacy of our Cossack heritage. Wishing everyone strength and inspiration in all their endeavors! You have our three 'yes' votes.”
Through their achievements, these youngsters are inspiring a new wave of dedication and establishing strong traditions in Ukrainian sports.

The accomplishments of record-breakers like Vasyl Maievskyi and Filip Nahornyi highlight the growing passion for athletics among Ukraine’s youth. Their successes not only astonish but also motivate other children by proving that age is no barrier to reaching extraordinary heights. Competitions such as Ukraine's Got Talent emphasize the vital role of nurturing young talents and supporting their development on both national and international stages.

Vasyl's outstanding achievement is just one example of the incredible talent emerging from Ukraine's youth. In a similar spirit of excellence, the Ukrainian Greco-Roman wrestling team recently showcased their skills at the U20 World Championship in Bratislava, bringing home both gold and bronze medals.
