Aftermath of the Attack in Kyiv Ongoing
Cleanup operations are still underway in Kyiv following a large-scale, combined Russian assault that took place overnight on July 2, 2026. The attack primarily targeted Ukraine's capital, causing damage across more than 20 different sites. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported that Russia launched more than 70 missiles of various types, nearly half of which were ballistic. Furthermore, almost 500 attack drones were deployed, including jet-powered Shahed models. The attack completely destroyed a warehouse belonging to the Moyo electronics retail chain.

A day of mourning has been declared in Kyiv for July 3, 2026. According to Zelenskyy, 'supplying air defense systems to Ukraine is an absolutely top-priority and critical issue.' 'Each of our bilateral agreements with partners regarding air defense truly makes a difference,' the president stated. He also expressed hope for a decision from the United States concerning licenses for Patriot systems and joint efforts, which could help end the war and prevent similar attacks.
