Today, December 17, marks 147 years since the birth of the prominent military figure - general-ensign of the Army of the Ukrainian People's Republic (UPR) Bashynskyi Esper Ivanovych. He was born in 1878 in the village of Klyuchevskoye, which is now located in the territory of Kamchatka Krai in the Russian Federation. He came from a noble family from Kharkiv region. After receiving a military education, he participated in the Russo-Japanese War of 1904-1905 and World War I.
On November 21, 1917, he voluntarily joined the Ukrainian military and led an artillery division
After that, Bashynskyi held command positions in the army of the Ukrainian State (Hetmanate) of Pavlo Skoropadskyi. His military career was associated with many significant events and achievements.
General-ensign Bashynskyi is a prominent figure in the history of Ukraine, who devoted his life to a free Ukraine and participated in notable military events of his time. His contribution to the defense and development of the Ukrainian army remains immeasurable for descendants.
