Introduction of hourly power outage schedules
On December 18, hourly power outage schedules will be introduced in Ukraine due to the consequences of Russian attacks on the energy infrastructure. In most regions of the country, consumers will face restrictions on electricity supply, which may affect daily life. Power limitation schedules will also apply to industrial consumers.
The reason for introducing hourly power outage schedules is the negative impact of Russian missile and drone attacks on Ukraine's energy system. Ukrenergo urges the public to use electricity sparingly, which will be an important factor in overcoming the consequences of these attacks. At the same time, consumers should consider that an electric stove consumes up to 5 kW of energy, so economical use of electrical appliances can significantly reduce the load on the network.
Recommendations for energy saving
Additionally, during the night from 11:00 PM to 7:00 AM, the cost of electricity will be halved, which may serve as an additional incentive for consumers to save electricity. In connection with the new conditions, authorities recommend ensuring supplies of:
- water
- food
- medications
- power banks
- alternative lighting sources
There are also ways to reduce electricity bills:
- cook with the lid on to save up to 20%
- install LED bulbs to reduce lighting costs by up to 80%
- switch to a dual-zone tariff
Given the situation, it is important for consumers to be prepared for potential changes in their daily routines and to adjust their habits according to the new conditions.
The introduction of hourly power outage schedules is an unprecedented measure in response to serious threats to the country's energy stability.
These restrictions may significantly impact the daily lives of Ukrainians, forcing them to adapt their habits and ways of consuming electricity. Recommendations for energy savings indicate the need for collective efforts to support the energy system in crisis situations.
