On November 18, Deputy Minister of Transport of Ukraine Serhiy Derkach and Secretary of State of the Ministry of Transport of Romania Ionel Scrisatian met at the 'Porubne - Siret' crossing. This meeting was aimed at developing cross-border logistics between the two countries with the help of the EU SAFE mechanism.
Romania proposes to create a joint application to expand the road to the crossing and improve the adjacent areas. Currently, technical teams are working on clarifying the details and options for implementing the project.
'Ukraine and Romania are working together to create effective logistics at the border. Our efforts are aimed at the rapid and successful implementation of this project. This is a step towards improving transport links between the countries,' emphasized Serhiy Derkach.
The Project for the Development of the 'Porubne' Crossing Is Launched
Implementation of the project to expand the infrastructure of the 'Porubne' crossing, including the construction of new lanes for trucks and other improvements, will soon begin. This will significantly increase the capacity for freight vehicles and is being carried out with the support of the EU's 'Connecting Europe Facility' program.
During the meeting, other issues were also discussed, including the formation of a list of priority projects for financing and an agreement on the development of a common border.
