Arrest of a criminal in Tiachiv district
In the Tiachiv district of the Vinnytsia region, the police apprehended a 24-year-old man who stole two cars and got into traffic accidents while driving them. The arrest took place on December 24, and the offender is a resident of the Tomashpil community. It is known that the man committed the crimes while intoxicated.
The first stolen car was the cause of a traffic accident, as a result of which the offender got stuck in a ditch. Both stolen vehicles have been seized and taken to an impound lot. After the arrest, the man will remain in a temporary detention facility until a preventive measure is chosen.
Legal consequences and public reaction
Currently, criminal proceedings are being investigated under parts 1 and 2 of Article 289 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of this article provides for imprisonment for up to eight years, with or without the possibility of confiscation of property. In addition, the offender has been charged with administrative materials for driving a vehicle while intoxicated and without a driver's license.
It is worth noting that previously in Vinnytsia, on November 9, an accident occurred at the intersection of Keletska and Shevchenka, resulting in injury to one person. There is also a report of a case where a car service employee stole a new car and crashed it in an accident, causing damage amounting to 1.2 million UAH.
