This year, 317 thousand participants took part in the NMT, of which 2414 scored the maximum 200 points in one subject. This is slightly less than last year. In total, 289 thousand students completed the testing, and only 12% did not cope with the mathematics tasks.
'Here I want to mention an interesting fact: out of them, 1163 are holders of 200 points specifically in mathematics. There were many comments on social media about the very difficult mathematics test, which was allegedly impossible to pass due to the challenging tasks. So, almost half of those who passed the NMT with high 200 points are people who received them specifically in mathematics,' emphasized Vinnitsky.
It is also worth noting that most graduates achieved the highest results specifically in mathematics, although the test was difficult. The government plans to improve the quality of mathematics education by focusing on natural sciences specialties.
Regional analysis of NMT results
As for the distribution of results by regions, Vinnitsky did not name specific leaders. However, Kyiv and Lviv showed high results. Interestingly, the Ukrainian language was written best in the Kharkiv and Sumy regions, surpassing the western regions.
'This dispels the myth that some areas are considered Russian-speaking. It turns out that Ukrainian is taught better here than in other regions,' added the expert.
In 2021, significant changes occurred in the results of participants in the NMT, information about which will provide a useful starting point for improving the quality of education and preparation for the next testing.
