Ukraine Implements Nationwide Power Restrictions Starting January 29: Schedules and Details

Починаючи з 29 січня, в Україні вводяться нові обмеження на електропостачання: розклад та інформація.

Power Supply Restrictions in Ukraine

Starting January 29, extensive power supply restrictions will be enforced across all regions of Ukraine. This is a direct result of the ongoing Russian attacks on energy infrastructure since last October, compounded by adverse weather conditions. The restrictions will be in effect around the clock. Household consumers will face scheduled hourly blackouts, while industrial enterprises will operate under power capacity limitation schedules.

As of the morning of January 28, power outages affected 730 settlements across 11 regions, including Vinnytsia, Odesa, and Kyiv oblasts. The overall electricity consumption level has dropped by 2.3% due to these widespread blackouts. These measures highlight the severe strain on the national grid from months of targeted assaults.

Energy officials are urging consumers to shift their use of high-power appliances to nighttime hours after 11:00 PM to help manage the load.

The press service of NPC 'Ukrenergo' notes that the situation in the energy system remains fluid and subject to change. Consumers can find specific times and details for outages affecting their addresses on the official websites of their regional power distribution companies (oblenergos).

Guidance for Consumers

Amidst the ongoing war and relentless attacks on critical infrastructure, Ukraine's power grid is under immense pressure. Deteriorating winter weather has further complicated the situation, forcing authorities to implement these urgent measures to maintain overall system stability. Consumers are advised to:

  • strictly adhere to the published outage schedules;
  • use electricity rationally to reduce the strain on the network.

This situation underscores the broader societal adaptation required during wartime, as civilians and infrastructure bear the brunt of the conflict.
