A cold atmospheric front is set to bring a dramatic shift in weather across Ukraine on July 4, with temperatures dropping, intense downpours, hail, and storm-force winds. A yellow danger alert has been issued for most of the country, though western regions, Zhytomyr Oblast, and Vinnytsia Oblast will be spared the worst.

According to the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center, as reported by Glavcom, heavy rainfall is forecast for the following oblasts:

  • Poltava
  • Kharkiv
  • Zaporizhzhia
  • Dnipropetrovsk

Overnight, the storm front will sweep over Cherkasy, Odesa, and Mykolaiv oblasts. In eastern and southeastern regions, wind gusts could reach 15–20 m/s.

Level I danger (yellow) has been declared across nearly the entire country, excluding the western oblasts, Zhytomyr, and Vinnytsia. Notably, on June 30, new temperature highs were recorded in 11 regions.

On July 4, nighttime temperatures will range from 13 to 18°C, with daytime highs of 21–26°C. In the south and east, overnight lows will be 18–23°C, rising to 26–31°C during the day. For Kyiv and its surrounding region, heavy rain and thunderstorms are expected on the night of July 4, with a yellow danger alert in effect.

In Kyiv, temperatures will dip to 14–16°C overnight and reach 22–24°C during the day. Across Kyiv Oblast, nighttime temperatures will hover between 13 and 18°C, with daytime highs of 21–26°C. Northwest winds are forecast at 7–12 m/s.
