5000 hryvnias for a first grader: what the money is really allowed to be spent on

Ukrainian families have been informed about financial support from the state for preparing children for school. Under the 'School Package' program, the Pension Fund sends money to the 'Dія' card.


The Ministry of Social Policy has launched a large-scale program for families with school-aged children, where each first-grader family can receive 5000 hryvnias for school supplies.


One of the parents of a first-grader, legal representatives, and employees of institutions for orphans and children deprived of parental care are entitled to receive assistance.

Participation statistics: According to the Ministry of Social Policy, over 98 thousand families have already applied for assistance, which is almost 54% of the total number of first-graders in the education system.


How to apply for assistance


Submission deadlines: the program operates until November 15, 2025.


System operation algorithm: The Pension Fund receives updated lists of first-graders from the Ministry of Education and Science on a weekly basis, confirming the official enrollment of the child in the first grade.


Possible ways to submit an application:



  • Online through the 'Dія' app: go to the 'Government Assistance' section and fill out the necessary information.

  • Offline: contact the Pension Fund service center.
