Joint Appeal by 51 UN Member States Supporting Ukraine
In March 2025, representatives from 51 United Nations member countries issued a joint statement expressing firm support for Ukraine. They called on Russia to immediately implement a complete and unconditional ceasefire. The declaration emphasized the urgent need for Russia to facilitate the safe return of Ukrainian civilians who have been unlawfully detained, forcibly displaced, or deported, including children.
“We urge Russia to ensure the prompt, safe, and unconditional repatriation of all unlawfully held, forcibly moved, or deported Ukrainian civilians, particularly children,” the statement read.

The statement also highlighted concerns about Russia’s attempts to obstruct Ukraine’s grain exports, actions that jeopardize global food security. In a notable diplomatic development, the United States invited Russian President Vladimir Putin to attend the G20 summit scheduled for December 14–15, 2025, in Miami.
“The United States has extended an invitation to dictator Putin for the upcoming G20 summit in Miami,” said U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
Despite these efforts, there remains no agreement between Ukraine and Russia to halt attacks targeting energy infrastructure. Russia continues to issue threats toward Europe, with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov suggesting the possibility of a brief conflict with Europe, though denying any intention to launch attacks: “Any potential war between Russia and Europe would likely be very short.”
Lavrov also stressed the importance of his message reaching European capitals and institutions: “I expect my words to be heard in European capitals and structures.” The international community continues to monitor the situation closely while reaffirming its solidarity with Ukraine as it resists Russian aggression. “We stand united with Ukraine and support its fight against Russian aggression. Ukraine desires peace. Russia must cease its hostilities, agree to a ceasefire, and engage meaningfully in negotiations to achieve a comprehensive, just, and lasting peace,” declared representatives of the 51 UN member states.
