5G in Ukraine: Borodianka will become the second city with new connectivity after Lviv
Ukraine is expanding the testing of mobile 5G connectivity, and the next settlement to implement this standard will be Borodianka in the Kyiv region. This information was announced by the head of the Kyiv regional military administration Mykola Kalashnikov, noting that by the end of the year, mobile 5G connectivity should appear in Borodianka.
Borodianka will be the second settlement in Ukraine to have 5G coverage after Lviv. This implementation is taking place against the backdrop of Borodianka's recovery, which suffered catastrophic destruction at the beginning of the full-scale invasion. Despite the positive news regarding the implementation of new technologies, the full launch of 5G in Ukraine will only occur after the end of martial law.
It should be noted that a significant portion of Ukrainians' smartphones already support the 5G standard, which creates favorable conditions for further development of the network. The Ministry of Digital Transformation clarified that this specifically refers to pilot testing, not full commercial coverage. In addition to Borodianka and Lviv, pilot testing zones for 5G are also planned in Kharkiv.
The Importance of 5G Implementation
The implementation of 5G in Ukraine is an important step in the development of telecommunications infrastructure, especially in the context of recovery after military actions. Next-generation technologies can significantly improve the speed and quality of connectivity, which, in turn, will contribute to the development of businesses and digital services.
The expansion of testing in Borodianka and other cities emphasizes Ukraine's commitment to integrating modern technologies even under challenging circumstances.
