This holiday, celebrated by Orthodox Christians, is filled with special traditions such as the blessing of fruits and preparing treats for loved ones and the needy.
Also, August 6 is the day of significant international events, such as Hiroshima Day, when in 1945 an American bomber dropped an atomic bomb on Hiroshima, claiming the lives of tens of thousands of people. This tragedy persistently reminds us of the necessity to prohibit nuclear weapons, as well as the role of doctors in humanism and achieving peace.
