The city plans to attract 21 million euros for the project: according to the idea, trams and trolleybuses will be able to operate for over seven hours without electricity supply. This is reported by the Lviv City Council.
Lviv has signed a memorandum of cooperation with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. The agreement was concluded by the mayor Andriy Sadovyi, the president of the EBRD Odile Renaud-Basso, and the director of LKP 'Lviv Electric Transport' Iryna Ivanyshyn. Lviv Electric Transport: where 21 million euros will come from
The total cost of the project is 21 million euros. Of this amount, Lviv plans to attract 13.5 million euros as a loan from the EBRD, and another 7.5 million euros will be provided in the form of grant funds.
The system is expected to ensure the operation of electric transport for more than seven hours without centralized electricity supply. According to the mayor, this will help the city cope with critical situations, including possible power outages in winter.

Lviv Electric Transport carries over 150 thousand passengers daily. The company uses 150 trams and trolleybuses on its routes. To support the operation of this transport, the city is also preparing new drivers.
Lviv and the EBRD: joint projects since 2008
Lviv's cooperation with the EBRD has been ongoing since 2008. During this time, the city has attracted 217 million euros: 172 million euros in loans and 45 million euros in grants. In total, the parties began 12 projects, eight of which have already been completed, while four are being implemented.
Among the previous initiatives are a tram to Sykhiv, electronic tickets, a biogas project, road repairs, and support for critical infrastructure. With the participation of the EBRD, new trams and trolleybuses have also been purchased, and depots and traction substations have been modernized.
'The EBRD is our largest partner in investing in the city's economy, so I am very happy that we have the opportunity to take such important steps for the development of our city and strengthening resilience,' said Andriy Sadovyi.
During the meeting, the parties also discussed other possible projects, including a tram to Mykolaychuk and the construction of a surgical building UNBROKEN. The development of the city network is also complemented by changes in the transport operation that the city is implementing during repairs.
