Power Outages in Kyiv Region

On January 7, 2023, power outages will begin in the Kyiv region according to schedules published by DTEK. This decision has been made due to the complex energy situation in Ukraine. Maksym Tyminenko, CEO of DTEK, noted that this winter will be the most challenging for Ukrainians since the beginning of the full-scale invasion.

Outage Schedules

The power outage schedules envisage different times without electricity for consumers. In particular, the first phases of the outages are planned from 06:00 to 07:00 and at various times throughout the day. For example:

  • 1.1 phase: from 06:00 to 07:00 and from 13:30 to 17:00
  • 1.2 phase: from 06:00 to 07:00 and from 13:30 to 18:00
  • 2.1 phase: from 13:30 to 17:00
  • 2.2 phase: from 03:00 to 06:30 and from 14:00 to 17:00
  • 3.1 phase: from 07:00 to 10:00 and from 17:00 to 20:30
  • 3.2 phase: from 07:00 to 10:00 and from 17:00 to 20:00
  • 4.1 phase: from 08:00 to 10:00 and from 17:00 to 20:30
  • 4.2 phase: from 06:30 to 10:00 and from 17:00 to 20:30
  • 5.1 phase: from 10:00 to 17:00
  • 5.2 phase: from 10:00 to 13:30 and from 20:30 to 24:00
  • 6.1 and 6.2 phases: from 00:00 to 03:00, from 10:00 to 13:30 and from 20:30 to 22:00

This initiative aims to optimize electricity consumption amid the current energy crisis.

The power cuts have been a response to the challenges faced by Ukraine's energy system during the war and the destruction of infrastructure. The situation underscores the importance of rational resource use and the need for consumers to adapt to new conditions.

'Such measures can help reduce the load on the networks and ensure the stability of electricity supply during the critical winter period.' - Maksym Tyminenko, CEO of DTEK
