735 thousand Ukrainians work in Poland: how migrants influence the labor market

735 тисяч громадян України трудяться в Польщі: як мігранти змінюють ситуацію на ринку праці

The Labor Market in Poland

The labor market in Poland is growing thanks to foreign workers, particularly Ukrainians, who make up a significant portion of the employed foreigners. As of the end of June 2025, there were 1,999,500 foreigners working in Poland, which is 6.5% more than in June 2024. Among them, 735,100 are Ukrainian citizens, making up 66.9% of the total number of foreigners in the country.

Employment Centers and Demographics

Warsaw and its surroundings remain the largest employment centers for foreigners, as one in five foreigners works here. Among foreign workers, 59.7% are men. The majority of foreigners, specifically 422,200 people, work under contract agreements and similar arrangements.

It is also worth noting that:

  • Belarusian citizens account for 10.8% of the total number of foreigners;
  • Georgian citizens - 2.3%;
  • Indian citizens - 2.0%;
  • Colombian citizens - 1.6%.

Thanks to such diversity in the labor market, Poland benefits significantly from the presence of foreign workers, which in turn contributes to the country's economic development.

The growth of the number of foreign workers in Poland, especially Ukrainians, reflects the country's need for labor due to economic growth and a shortage of workers in various sectors. This also indicates a trend towards greater integration of foreigners into Polish society and the economy, which may have long-term implications for the labor market in the country.
