It has been 80 years since the Nuremberg Tribunal, but international law is once again experiencing tense times. What was an important achievement in 1945 - holding the leadership of an aggressor state accountable for crimes against peace, war crimes, and crimes against humanity - is relevant again today.
On the occasion of this anniversary, a joint column by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine and his colleagues from other countries was published in the French publication Libération, where they expressed support for the idea of establishing a Special Tribunal for the crime of aggression against Ukraine, noting the importance of this step to ensure justice.
The Nuremberg trials not only established legal principles but also demonstrated that the international community can act together in the face of global threats, affirming the belief in the necessity of punishment for crimes. Such historical events remind us of the importance of international justice and cooperation.
