Ukraine's Largest Krakovian Dance Performance
A new national record was set in Khmelnytskyi for the largest performance of the traditional Podil dance known as the Krakovian. The milestone event took place as part of the regional initiative 'Podillia Dances' and was held in honor of International Dance Day. A total of 888 dancers gathered at Mykhailo Chekman Culture and Recreation Park, representing nine regions across Ukraine: Khmelnytskyi, Vinnytsia, Ternopil, Chernivtsi, Lviv, Volyn, Rivne, Dnipropetrovsk, and the city of Kyiv.
Officials from the National Register of Records of Ukraine formally certified the achievement. The event was organized by experts from the Khmelnytskyi Regional Philharmonic and the 'Cossacks of Podillia' ensemble, led by Honored Artist of Ukraine Serhiy Kachurynets. Following the record-breaking dance, a charity concert was held, raising funds to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Centenarian Zoia Ishchuk Celebrates 100th Birthday
In addition, the Khmelnytskyi region marked another significant milestone—the 100th birthday of resident Zoia Ishchuk. Born on April 16, 1926, she worked as a teacher until the age of 55. Her husband taught mathematics, while Zoia instructed students in the Ukrainian language.

Despite her advanced age, Ishchuk says she does not feel 100 years old and jokingly claims she has not yet reached 50.
These events highlight the richness of cultural life in Khmelnytskyi and underscore the importance of both traditions and individuals who shape the region's history.
The record for the Krakovian dance showcases the unity and energy of Ukrainians in preserving cultural heritage, a key element of national identity. The accompanying charity concert further reflects community solidarity during challenging times, with all proceeds going to support Ukraine's Armed Forces.
