Tragedy in Vyshneve
A Russian strike on July 6 in the Kyiv region city of Vyshneve claimed the life of 93-year-old Lidiya Semenivna, who had been bedridden for the past four years. But we couldn't save mom. She was 93. Maybe that's a long life, but she didn't deserve to go this way,' said Tetyana Volodymyrivna, a relative of the victim.
She also recalled the terrifying moments when 'doors and windows blew out of the house, and the roof collapsed. We got into the car at the very last second. By then, smoke was already rising from under the eaves. The detonations were massive—blast after blast, explosion after explosion. We survived thanks to God's help and my husband's quick reaction.'
Unfortunately, firefighters were unable to recover Lidiya Semenivna's body as the house began to collapse and the roof was already ablaze. 'I was hoping we could at least preserve her body. But we couldn't,' said Mykola Oleksandrovych, Tetyana's husband.
July 7 was declared a day of mourning in Vyshneve following the tragic events that shook the community. Local residents have compared the destruction to the Chornobyl disaster, with some saying, 'Chornobyl was nothing compared to this.' The situation remains dire, and families who lost loved ones are in urgent need of support.
