Unbreakable Support Hubs at Ukrainian Railway Stations
Across Ukraine, 97 'Unbreakable' support hubs are now operating at railway stations, with plans to add 50 more in the near future. These hubs provide round-the-clock assistance, equipped with backup power, water, and hot tea, making them accessible to anyone in need. Since the start of winter, nearly 360,000 people have used their services. These facilities are a critical part of the national response to the ongoing war and its impact on civilian infrastructure.
Enhanced Comfort for Families with Children
To improve comfort and safety for families, 40 stations have been outfitted with separate, dedicated zones for parents with children. During a severe cold snap after January 9th, approximately 65,000 individuals sought and received aid at these hubs, highlighting their vital role during extreme weather. The initiative underscores the government's commitment to supporting citizens facing harsh winter conditions.
In addition to the stationary hubs, mobile aid units known as 'Unbreakable Railcars' are operating in the cities of Brovary, Fastiv, Boryspil, and Vasylkiv. More than 9,000 residents of Kyiv have already utilized the services provided by these mobile units from the State Emergency Service (DSNS). This mobile approach is essential for reaching communities that may lack access to fixed-location services.
The network of Unbreakable hubs represents a concerted effort by the state and local authorities to provide reliable support to citizens during emergencies and extreme weather. The expanding number of locations and their 24/7 operation is a crucial step in protecting the population, particularly during winter. The combination of stationary and mobile points ensures a more comprehensive aid system for vulnerable residents across different regions.
