A 98-Year-Old Briton Becomes the World’s Oldest Wing-Walker, Earning a Guinness World Record

Дев’яносто вісім років і справжня сміливість: британка встановлює рекорд у світі, виконуючи небезпечні трюки на крилах літаком.

An Extraordinary Feat by Harry Gismann

At 98 years old, Harry Gismann has achieved a remarkable milestone by becoming the oldest person globally to perform a wing-walking flight. He stood on the wing of an aircraft at an altitude exceeding 300 meters for a duration of nine minutes. The flight took place at the Duxford Aerodrome in Cambridge, United Kingdom, and was officially verified by a Guinness World Records adjudicator.

Gismann spent 11 months preparing for this achievement under the guidance of a fitness trainer. The centenarian didn’t pursue the record solely for personal fulfillment; he also aimed to raise funds for the Lennox Children’s Cancer Charity. This feat holds deep personal significance, as it was carried out in memory of his wife and son, both of whom passed away from cancer.

Reflecting on his experience, Gismann shared: 'I’ve dreamed of this since childhood, and finally fulfilling that dream at age 98—and becoming a Guinness World Record holder—has exceeded my wildest expectations.'

Lindsey Bidwell, an acquaintance of Harry, highlighted his determination:

'Harry proves that it’s never too late to chase a dream. At 98, he’s accomplished something truly extraordinary.'
She also noted that the charitable aspect of his achievement makes it even more special, adding, 'Harry is a true national treasure.'

Contributing to the Fight Against Cancer

Harry Gismann’s accomplishment not only set a new record but also made a meaningful contribution to cancer research and awareness, demonstrating that age is no barrier to realizing one’s ambitions. This case may inspire others, regardless of their age, to pursue their goals and actively engage in charitable efforts—a vital aspect of social responsibility.

Gismann’s act also draws attention to the issue of cancer, emphasizing the importance of supporting such initiatives.
