Apples will not become cheaper until 2026: experts explain the reasons for high prices
In Ukraine, apple prices remain high despite a sufficient harvest. Forecasts for 2026 do not foresee a significant drop in the price of this fruit, and prices may even rise in the spring. Experts point to a number of factors affecting the pricing policy in the apple market.
Project coordinator of EastFruit Weekly Ukraine Oleksandr Khorev notes that the market is demonstrating inertia after two seasons of high prices. In particular, prices may rise due to reduced stocks in warehouses, which limits supply in the market. The peak value of apples is expected in April-May, which may further influence the pricing situation.
Oleksandr Khorev emphasizes that producers are expanding their export geography, which leads to a reduction in supply in the domestic market. This may become another reason for the stability or even increase in apple prices in the near future.
High apple prices, which will persist until 2026, may be the result of market trends such as:
- Reduction of stocks in warehouses
- Expansion of exports
These factors affect the availability of the product in the domestic market, which in turn may lead to an increase in fruit prices. Consumers should be prepared for potential price increases in the near future and consider alternative options to ensure their diet. Thus, the situation in the apple market may have significant consequences for consumption and the economy as a whole.
