Subscriber Frustration with lifecell
Customers of mobile operator lifecell are voicing strong dissatisfaction over recent tariff increases and incidents of double billing. One user reported that the cost of their plan jumped from 240 to 270 hryvnias. To make matters worse, 30 hryvnias were deducted for a daily package, followed by an additional 270 hryvnias for the monthly plan.
Company Response
lifecell attributed the price adjustments to substantial expenses required to maintain network independence and improve service quality. According to company representatives,
“the price of each of our tariffs fully reflects its value, and the price change is driven by significant costs for sustaining autonomy and enhancing the network.”
The operator also emphasized that customers are always notified of tariff changes in advance via SMS messages.
The 30-hryvnia deduction occurs automatically after midnight if the account lacked sufficient funds to cover the full package cost at that time. lifecell stated that it reserves the right to set service prices and define tariff plans in accordance with Ukraine’s Law on Electronic Communications. The company cited the following reasons for tariff adjustments:
- changes in legislation,
- introduction of new taxes,
- revision of pricing policy,
- general market conditions in the electronic communications sector.
These tariff changes reflect broader trends in the mobile communications market, where operators are compelled to adjust prices in response to rising costs and regulatory shifts. Dissatisfied users may explore alternatives from other providers, potentially intensifying competition in the industry. At the same time, companies stress the importance of investing in service quality improvements, which are critical for retaining customers in an increasingly competitive landscape.
