A representative of the Russian oligarch Roman Abramovich stated that the information about his possible purchase of the Turkish football club 'Galatasaray' is untrue. It was noted that Abramovich has no intention of investing in any other football club.

«This information is not true. Mr. Abramovich is not buying or investing in any football club,» the oligarch's representative emphasized.

Earlier, information emerged that Abramovich plans to buy 'Galatasaray'. According to the Turkish newspaper Sözcü, he even acquired a mansion in Istanbul and is preparing to move to Turkey.

According to current legislation, 'Galatasaray' is a public joint-stock company, the controlling stake of which belongs to the club foundation, not private individuals. Under this principle, the club is temporarily not subject to corporate ownership.

It is worth noting that in previous years, Roman Abramovich was the owner of the 'Chelsea' football club, which regularly achieved great success in England. However, due to sanctions, his assets in Britain were frozen, and the club was sold to other investors in 2022.
