Russian propagandists have spread fake news about '1.7 million dead Ukrainian soldiers'
Russian propagandists claim that hackers have hacked the database of the General Staff of Ukraine and obtained information about '1.7 million dead and missing Ukrainian soldiers' during the full-scale invasion of Russia into Ukraine.
This was reported by the Center for Countering Disinformation.
The Center's post emphasized that this is a false story, as Ukraine has never had such a large army. Even at the beginning of 2025, according to the President of Ukraine, the number of the Ukrainian army was only 880 thousand personnel. It is also worth noting that the losses of Russian troops are three times greater than the losses of Ukrainian soldiers.
According to the General Staff, during the invasion, Russian troops lost more than 1 million personnel killed and wounded. This has dispelled the myths spread by the propagandists.
The Center for Countering Disinformation noted that the aim of this fake is to demoralize Ukrainians and weaken the support of the international community for Ukraine.
The Ukrainian Center for Countering Disinformation refutes the Russian fake about massive losses of Ukrainian troops and emphasizes that such information is a fabrication aimed at discrediting and demoralizing Ukrainians. Official data from the General Staff indicate significantly lower losses among Ukrainian troops than those spread by Russian propagandists.
