A New Player Enters the Handheld Arena
Acer has now officially announced the Predator Atlas 7, a small gaming handheld that sits alongside its larger 8-inch predecessor. As portable gaming PCs continue to grow in popularity, this new model aims to deliver a full Windows gaming experience in a more compact shell. The device features a 7-inch touchscreen with a Full HD panel, 120 Hz refresh rate, and support for variable refresh rate (VRR). Its display covers the full sRGB spectrum and comes protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus.
Power, Memory, and Visual Tech
Inside the handheld, buyers can expect either an Intel Arc G3 processor or a more powerful Intel Arc G3 Extreme chip equipped with integrated Intel Arc B390 graphics. The system supports up to 24 GB of LPDDR5X RAM and as much as 1 TB of PCIe Gen 4 NVMe storage. Intel's XeSS 3 upscaling technology is included to help boost image quality in compatible games.
Cooling, Controls, and Battery
For heat management, Acer built a metal fan called Predator AeroBlade that has 89 ultra-thin 0.1 mm blades and relies on Vortex Flow to optimize air movement. Power is supplied by a battery that can reach 80 Wh, which should allow for extended play sessions. The handheld's sticks use tunnel magnetoresistance (TMR) sensors, while Hall-effect sensors sit in the analog triggers; there are also programmable rear buttons for extra flexibility.
Software, Pricing, and Availability
Predator Atlas 7 runs Windows 11 and comes with an Xbox Game Pass subscription, giving users immediate access to an extensive catalog of titles. Official pricing and sale timing have not been announced yet, with Acer promising to share more details later.
With this announcement, Acer is making its intentions clear: claim a stronger foothold in the portable gaming market as competition in that space heats up.
Between its high-end features such as VRR and XeSS 3, plus the Xbox Game Pass bundle, the device gives road warrior gamers plenty of reasons to pay attention. A broad library available right out of the box could give the Predator Atlas 7 a real boost against its rivals.
As Acer expands its gaming portfolio with the Predator Atlas 7, it also showcases innovation in other categories. For instance, the company recently unveiled what could be the lightest 14-inch laptop in the world at IFA, further solidifying its commitment to portability and performance across devices.
