Conviction of a lawyer for fraud

A lawyer in Kyiv has been sentenced to 6 years in prison for fraud involving the apartments of deceased owners. The court made a decision on the punishment with confiscation of property. The actions of the lawyer, who arranged a loan for more than 800 thousand hryvnias on behalf of deceased apartment owners, were classified under part 4 of article 190 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

As a result of fraudulent actions, the apartment passed into the ownership of the lawyer after the debt was not paid. It is important to note that the deceased owners had no heirs, so the apartment, according to the law, should have passed into the ownership of the community of the city of Kyiv. The court recognized the real estate as a lapsed inheritance, confirming the legality of the actions in this case.

Results of the pre-trial investigation

The pre-trial investigation was conducted by investigators from the Main Department of the National Police in Kyiv. The court's decision became an important step in the fight against fraud in the real estate sector and the protection of citizens' rights.

This case highlights the seriousness of the fraud problem in Ukraine, especially in the real estate sector, where the absence of heirs can become a cause for abuses. The court ruling not only punished the guilty but also served as an example for others, demonstrating that offenses in this area will not go unnoticed. This may contribute to increasing citizens' trust in the legal system and ensuring better protection of their rights in similar situations.
