European Commission representative Maciej Berestetsky questioned the spending of part of the funds from the National Recovery Plan in Poland. He demands an investigation into the possible misallocation of billions of euros from EU funds. This involves the scandalous use of these funds for yachts, saunas, and other luxuries, reports Euronews.

According to Onet, the Polish government under Donald Tusk froze billions of euros from EU recovery funds last year. However, it turned out that some of these funds might have been used for other purposes, raising concerns among the public.

In August, a list of companies that received subsidies from the European Union was published. Users discovered expenditures on various luxuries, sparking a scandal. Investments in yachts and other items were also called into question.

Poland was counting on nearly 60 billion euros from the EU's Recovery and Resilience Facility to support its economy after the COVID-19 pandemic. However, due to a dispute with the EU, the funding has been blocked. If the authorities do not take action, the European Public Prosecutor's Office and OLAF may get involved.
